Summation theory - not by German Mathematicians, Pythagoras theorem - not by Pythagoras

Did you have an interesting climax in my last blog?? Just what all mega serials follow for weekends:-) :-)

So, this blog is going to let you know some unrevealed truth about one of our most favorite/disgusting subject of educational system. Yes, it is - "MATHEMATICS'. Many of us love 'MATHS' (as it is called), while most of us hate it. Lovers because it loves them back and same is with the haters as well :-).
Jokes apart, the topic clearly states the truth that I am trying to emphasis. The 'Summation theory' and 'Pythagoras theorem' alone are not involved in this dispute. Rather all the concepts, theories, formulas comprising 'Maths' and 'AstroPhysics'  are to be taken into account.

For your information(FYI), some significant theories and topics which are familiar are listed below :
Summation theory
Pythagoras theorem
Fourier transformation
Algebra
Trigonometry
Square/Cube/N roots
Differential Calculus
Geometry and many more..

Even if 'Maths' and 'Physics' are not your favorite subjects, what if I say that the authors of the above list as we know, are not the actual owners of their masterpiece, and that they have copied the concepts. Dont you feel shocked? When we feel that these people have had extraordinary brilliance, what about the proprietors.

Who could they be?
Yes, they are OUR people. Our own 'Bhaskaracharya' , 'Aryabhata', 'Bhramagupta','Baudhayanaand many more. They have written the concepts and formulas in the form of verses, and when we realize or look into them in detail, we can find the theory and its proof.
For our better understanding lets us take 'Summation theory'.
Summation theory
For those who are not aware of it,
\sum_{i=1}^ni = \frac{n(n+1)}2
where Summation is the operation of adding a sequence of numbers. This theory states that if numbers are added sequentially from left to right, any intermediate result is a running total of the summation(definition can be ignored :-))
For example, if we want to find sum of numbers from 1 to 5, how do we do that?
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 = 15. This is a simple summation. What if the number is big. For example, say from 1 to 55,

                                                                   =   1540

This is a sample to make you understand what this Summation theory is. This formula is taught to us in our school. A new symbol to represent the concept of Summation with positioning of limits and such things makes it look so professional.
But as 'blamed', this concept has been copied from one of our greatest minds 'Bhaskaracharya'. In one of his top books 'Siddhanta Siromani' written long long time back he has created the formula for Summation of N numbers. How?

"saikapadhdhna padhaarthamithaikaadhyankayuthihi kalu sankalithaakya"

This verse in Sanskrit tells us the definition of Summation theory as carved today. On splitting this verse into micro level one can find the definition, which says,
"when a padham (a number/quantity),  which is incremented by one (saikapadha) and split into 2 halves (padhaartham) and multiplied by the Padham (same number) gives a quantity that is equal to the sequential addition or summation of all the  numbers that lies below the padham starting from 1 (eka anka yuthihi kalu sankalithaakya)"

Pythagoras theorum
Lets have a glimpse on it. The definition stated for this theorem is as follows..
In any right triangle, the area of the square whose side is the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the areas of the squares whose sides are the two legs (the two sides that meet at a right angle). The theorem can be written as an equation relating the lengths of the sides a, b and c, often called the Pythagorean equation:
where c represents the length of the hypotenuse, and a and b represent the lengths of the other two sides.

This concept was formulated by the same legend 'Bhaskaracharya' in the same book.He assumed a Garuda (Type of vulture) sitting on a tree with a straight trunk, aiming to catch a snake at a certain distance from the tree making a triangle like illusion as example and formulated this concept.

Pythagoras while traveling across the world in quest of knowledge came across this master mind in India. He acquired these concepts from him and projected to this world as his theorem with his own definition and proof. Here's what 'Bhaskaracharya' left for us that explains the whole Pythagoras theorem.

"dirghasyaksanaya rajjuh parsvamani, tiryadam mani, cha yatprthagbhute kurutastadubhayan karoti"

Reason for us not following our ancestors
If our ancestors are the fathers of Maths and Astro Physics why are we not having their hand written books and their way of teaching in our educational system? In spite of knowing the truth we are forced to study the refined, sophisticated version of the same concepts, copied by the modern inventors. Why? The reason is simple. In this modern world nobody is accepting things without equational proof. No matter how clear the explanation is, how simple the example(all real time) is, how understandable it is, there was lack of evaluational proof  i.e Left-hand-side = Right-hand-side.
This mechanism is accepted as a theorem by our modern world. They just want simple notations. Our ancient vedic mathematicians also had equational proofs for all the theories but they were taught to their students in a different manner.

Not to be denied, for the mega mind who found out the value of 'pi' to be 3.1416 (accurate to four decimal places) with derivational proof in the past, it is not a big deal to write equations and proofs. But those legends preferred 'Maths' to be simple with real time examples such as this Garuda and snake. All the theories were involving simple real time examples that made the modern mathematicians feel unsure if the theory was perfect or not. So they created new notations, equations and what not, and carved the equational proof and that is what is followed till date.
Nevertheless, we cant deny that almost all of the concepts were 'borrowed and renovated'.

Thats it! Hope you guys are now feeling proud to know that we are from the country(India) where the "Masters of the universe" were born:-)

Wait for the next blog to get to know about the "Massive energy stations of the past". Guess what I am referring to.. till then take care!!

Vedas & Upanishads.. Quite interesting..

Hoping that all of you are enjoying life at its best, lets get to know another interesting fact.
This blog is about what our Vedas and Upanishads tried to impart. There are N number of  famous Vedas and Upanishads with thousands of verses that were created with lot of details and intensity. Scholars have been dedicating their whole of life to provide us these assets. Since the past, many went to 'Gurukulam', 'Veda paatshaala' to acquire the knowledge hiding in them. Even today they are run at different places and students are lighting their cognition.
So, what are these Vedas and Upanishads anyway.. Lets have a glimpse on both of them.

Vedas..
Vedas were created by scholars long long time ago. They were basically a set of principles that a man was supposed to follow in his life time. Though the way they were expressed was complicated, the theory was simple. It was all about what a man should do and what not. This was the prescript written for a man to follow the ethics of life. There was no relation to believing God or for that matter any person. There was nowhere written about God or about following any religion.

What was Upanishads then?
Upanishads were subsets of Vedas, having many properties similar to Vedas.  There was no representation of God or about any religion in the whole of it like the Vedas. Vedas expressed  the principles of man's life, while Upanishads shared general science.
For example : Evolution of universe (Big Bang theory), astrology, learning process, determination of seasons based on geographic science, evolution of a civilization, all natural processes like formation of a fetus and what not.
These were not related to an individual man but to mankind and world in relation to science.

In simple words, Vedas dealt with code of ethics for a man's living, while Upanishads dealt with knowledge on General science and facts. Both were no way connected to any religion. Both had no relation to God/divinity as well.

Then how did evolved a 'religion'..
Both Vedas and Upanishads were ideally meant for mankind in general. There were no religious interference in any of them. Then how came the religion. Some people in the past, accepted all the principles meant to be followed by the Vedas, while others omitted a few that were not feasible to them. The reason could have been there interest in following all or that they had no choice other than omitting a few due to some reasons. Thus emerged a set of people with new/altered principles, called themselves a religion with a name. Some people from this set who might have disliked one or more principles of their existing principles,  created another database of rules and created a religion. Thus one by one, religions came with their own set of principles. Still the mother of all of them is none other than our own Vedas. After a long time when people started owning their own set of principles, our Scholars afraid of losing our original universal base, named it as a new religion 'Hinduism'. Thus came into existence 'Hinduism', which is undoubtedly the mother of all religions following all the norms expressed in Vedas and Upanishads.

So, the base of all of these so called religions have emerged from our Vedas and Upanishads.

The four vedas that we are familiar with are Rigveda, Yajurveda, Sama-Veda,Atharva-Veda.
Some of the well known Upanishads are Aitareya, Kauṣītaki and Taittirīya etc. There are umpteen number of others unknown and hidden. So, what is that one thing that all of these try to teach us.
There is a slokam that has evolved on its own, but bears in it the meaning of our entire Vedas and Upanishads.
"Slokardhena pravakshyami yad uktam grantha kotishu
   Paropakarah punyaya papaya parapeedanam"
What does it mean?
"The meaning of millions of Vedas is that, helping others fetches you punyam(punyaha) while committing sin pushes you to hell".

There is no restriction on the amount of virtuous deeds or bad deeds that one does. Small or big everything counts. So beware, keep up doing your duties and book yourself a place at heaven by helping others [Serious :-)].

Next topic.. Believe it or not..
"Summation theory - not by German Mathematicians,
Pythagoras theorem - not by Pythagoras''...  proof available in my next blog...

Take care till then..

Complete Vishnu Sahasranama palan in just two lines of it

First of all, it feels fascinating to see people encouraging me. Thank you and looking forward for the same continued support.
My last blog concluded with the hint "Complete Vishnu Sahasranama palan in just two lines of it". 'Palan' refers to the fruit that we get back on praying. Lets us first have a little insight on origin of Vishnu Sahasranama
"Vishnu Sahasranama ", is a well known composition  of addressing Lord Vishnu with one thousand of his names. The birth of this astounding creation took place during Mahabharatha when Bhishma lying in his death bed of arrows explains Arjuna and Yudhistra about the One to be followed as the The Supreme Being.
Thus emerged this marvelous creation. And yes, the two lines that are being addressed is same as what you guessed.
"Sree Rama Rama Ramethi Rame Raame Manorame |
Sahasra Naama Thatthulyam Raama Naama Varaanane"

As the name implies, Sahasranama - thousand names, has its own power of benediction.Still, the above lines are co-equal to the Sahasranama as such. How do I say that 13 words uttered gives the fruit of a wholesome of thousand names chanted in praise of Lord? Do you realize how? Have you ever tried to find out why?
Please read below, that would prove you the equality.
Rama - रामा - the omnipotent
   Letters         य      र      ल      व      श      ष      स      ह
                         |        |        |        |        |       |        |        |
   Values          1       2       3       4       5       6       7       8

   Letters         प      फ      ब      भ
                        |        |        |        |        |
   Values         1       2        3       4       5

When you look at the arrangement of letters building up the word 'Rama' in Sanskrit,
रा and मा together make up the value 10
 रा  =  2 and मा =  5 therefore 2*5 = 10
From the above said two lines of the Sahasranama, in the first line we find the word 'Rama' mentioned thrice.
Rama,Rama,Ramethi(Rama+iti) all signifies 'Ram'
Hence Rama*Rama*Rama = (2*5)*(2*5) *(2*5) =10*10*10 = 1000.
The value comes to 1000 which indirectly gives us the same 'palan' as achieved by chanting a thousand names of the Lord. This is explained in the second line of this verse.

So, all of you recite 'Vishnu Sahasranama' whenever and wherever possible and get spiritually elevated. Others with real ineluctable/unavoidable situation/condition can always acquire divinity with these lines blessed for us.
Hope this blog made you know some interesting facts. With the same resonance, let us get to know the meaning of all Vedas and Upanishads explained in a simple Slokam of just two lines again.
Take care, till then.

Panchangam.. an unmatched calendar..

My first topic in the world of blogs is about 'Panchangam' - a common word used in every house of our clan. Believing that all of my blogs would add lot of new and interesting information to us, I start it off..... with all your wishes and blessings......

Everyone of us is familiar with the word 'Panchangam'. All of us know that the permit to perform any function/occasion/spiritual activity etc lies in the notations and details in this calendar. Some of us depend on astrologers to know it while most of us are masters ourselves.

Why is this name?
Basically the word 'Panchangam' means five parts - Panch(a)  Angam.
  1.  Thithi
  2.  Vaaram
  3.  Nakshatram
  4.  Yogam
  5.  Karanam
It gives a complete information of all the above entities for a complete year/years that are realized during the end of the previous year by experienced astrologers. There are different varieties of Panchangam for people belonging to this multicultural society. In ancient times, people believed that even a man's Karma(day-to-day activities) depended on these calculations. For instance, they strictly followed one important concept that Panchangam emphasized i.e. "Directions to be avoided on days of a week".

                     DAYS                                          DIRECTIONS TO BE AVOIDED
              Monday, Saturday                                              East
              Thursday                                                              South
              Sunday, Friday                                                   West
              Tuesday, Wednesday                                        North
Unavoidable situations still had 'Parigaarams' that were again specified in it. But in this fast moving world, no one looks at this everyday to perform their karma. Rather we restrict ourselves in using this for performing important activities/occasions.

Why Panchangam?
Astro-physicists in the past have done calculations involving planetary bodies and concluded the entities listed above. The identification of auspicious time using these entities to perform any activity creates a positive energy in and around and eradicates any existing negative vibrations, thereby bringing fruit to our wishes.

Apart from all these known facts, does everyone of us know that in respect to this unique calculator/calendar there is a Slokam to be chanted before touching/using this matchless asset anytime and everytime??

Here it is..expressing the entities and their values..

Thithescha sreekaram proktham (mangalam)
Vaaraath Aayushya vardhanam (aayul vruddhi)
Nakshathraath Harathe Paapam (nullifies paavam)
Yogath Roga nivaaranam (hale and healthy)
Karanam Kaarya sidhirasyath (karya siddhi)
Panchankam Palamuththamam (pays back highest value)

It is believed that you value your Panchangam through chanting this slokam and will it direct you to expected  auspicious times..."without much effort". Try this!

Hope this blog added some extra details to your ideas on Panchangam and its values..
Wait for the next one "Complete Vishnu Sahasranama palan in just two lines of it".
Take care!
